A few weeks ago I was gifted a pair of Calvin Klein jeans from Mai. She thrifted the jeans and they weren’t a good fit for her so they fell into my hands. The jeans fit nicely except the cut was a little dated so I decided it was the perfect time for a DIY. Jeans with frayed hems have been around for a few seasons now but I could never find a pair that fit nicely length wise.
I decided to cut the jeans into more of a crop style and threw them in the wash. I have really been into more loose fitting cropped jeans and the jeans were perfect for that. I paired them with my favorite black booties that have a little more height to cover my ankles and it also made the length of the jeans look more intentional.
I paired the jeans with a simple crew neck sweater and tucked it in to make my outfit look more put together. I also threw on a navy peacoat for some sophistication since the outfit was very plain. I believe outerwear can elevate any outfit and create a different look.
I typically carry a small bag with me and for the past two years, I’ve really been into Hmong textile inspired bags. I bought my first one from a street festival and got the one in the photo as a gift from my parents. I love how unique they are but still incorporate a small part of my heritage with me.
